As another summer season is upon us, I find myself doing my annual search to break in a new pair of sunglasses this season. As someone who has owned many of the big-name brands out there, I've always found myself hesitant to wear those expensive shades – too afraid I'll break or lose them. After a while I thought to myself what’s the point of buying shades if I don’t wear them!
So this season I took it upon myself to break into that middle market of sunglasses brands – quality style and durable to wear every day, without breaking the bank. Here are three indie sunglasses brands that deserve a spot in your summer accessory collection:
I discovered Kiaura through an Instagram ad and let me say I was not disappointed. They offer some trendier colors than some of the main players, which is nice when building out my sunglasses collection. At a price point of around $140 (some styles are $88!) they are definitely on the pricier side, however, they have quickly become my go-to shades. I highly recommend their Lautner best-selling frame, which is a twist on the classic wayfarer style.
2. Sunski
No longer an Indie brand, Sunski has been the main player in that middle price tier for a while now. With a commitment to sustainability, Sunski offers a variety of styles suited to support an outdoor lifestyle. I recommend the Baia style, coming in at just under $100, this Lennon inspired circular frame will never go out of style.
3. SunBrews
What can we say, we’re biased! SunBrews’ earth tone/coffee color inspired frames are the perfect summer accessory. With an emphasis on classic frames with a modern twist, SunBrews are built to suit a variety of face shapes. It has always been a struggle for me to find shades that weren’t super oversized and SunBrews collection of smaller frames have ended my search for good. The easiest on the wallet of the entire list, most of these frames come in at just under $70, making it tempting to collect the whole array of Brews.
