It’s that time of year again when the days are longer and the nights are warmer. Many of us, myself included, choose to cover our eyes during these long days with a pair of shades. It protects your eye health, improves your vision, and lets face it – looks stylish. However, in our ever changing schedules, I find myself constantly going from inside to outside to back inside. And unless you don’t care bout being judged or are a rapper, you can't pull off sunglasses inside. So let me tell you the 5 best ways to wear your sunglasses when they are not covering your eyes.
- On the shirt
Our list today starts with the most classic way of wearing your sunglasses. Repped by you, your dad, and your dad's dad, the ‘on the shirt” method has been around for years, and for good reason too. It’s comfortable, secure, and with the right outfit choice, sometimes looks better than wearing them on your face. This one will never go out of style and needs to be in your repertoire.
- On the back of the neck
Here we have our most daring way to wear your sunglasses, and my favorite by far. The back of the neck style is the most under-utilized, yet most secure way to store your shades. If there was a “sport mode” version – this would be it. The frames hug your neck, and the lenses sit easily on your traps. You’ll be turning heads when you walk into the room with the shades on the back of the neck.
- On the forehead
Okay stay with me here – cause this won't work for everyone. Maybe I’m built different, but I have always been able to comfortably rest my shades above my eyes, on my forehead when I’m not wearing them. However, many friends and family have pointed out at how they are wowed I am able to do this. Test it out for yourself and see, because if your cut out for it, it makes for some easy access to putting your sunglasses back on with a quick flip on the head (see above).
- In the front pocket
The front pocket method seems so simple, yet I see so many people execute this one incorrectly. While it makes sense to store your sunglasses in your front pocket with one arm inside the pocket to don those stylish shades, the best way is in fact quite the opposite. Instead, you should store your sunglasses with all the components inside the pocket EXCEPT the one arm. The reason for this is a much better weight distribution inside the pocket which equals much more stability. Added bonus: those expensive shades of yours won't fall and hit the ground.
- Upside Down on the hat
Lastly, we have another clothing-specific way to style your sunglasses. Whether you’re a DIII baseball player or not, all can enjoy this way to hold your shades. This way works so well half the time I forget my sunglasses are still there. Try out the hat method to keep your shades out while still making a statement.
